3 reasons why making videos regularly is important [VIDEO]

video marketing

You may have heard that to be successful online using video you need to be posting them regularly, but do you know why that is? Let me explain.

CONNECTING WITH YOUR AUDIENCE

People don't just buy products or services anymore, they buy into the person behind the product or service! Video is a great way to show your audience you're a real person and build trust.

A one-minute video is more effective than a 500-word article with exactly the same content, when building that relationship with your audience, because video taps into multiple senses for the viewer.

But if your audience only hears from you every once in a while, they're not able to develop a strong connection with you, and they may even forget who you are by the time your next video pops up.

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

No one is a pro at video after only a few tries, it takes practice. The only way to practice is to actually start making videos. You can't just say 'I'll wait till I'm better to start creating videos'. As it's the most effective way to engage it's better to get started practicing now rather than later.

Start with what you know and build on it. Every time you make a video you learn more about how to make videos quicker and how to better engage your audience.

MORE QUALITY CONTENT MORE REACH

As people begin to know who you are and share your content, many social media platforms have systems in place (called algorithms) designed to either limit or widen your reach.

On Facebook video content is prioritised over other posts, particularly with Facebook Live, and YouTube is the second largest search engine. People like watching videos and the more you create the more likely it will reach a bigger audience as viewers start to engage with your content.

However, you don't want to make videos just for the sake of it, or haphazardly. The best way to create videos regularly is to have a plan of when you'll post, and what you'll post.

Ideally, you want to post once a week, but if that feels too much to take on, start with every two weeks or once a month. Just make a plan, make sure it's content your audience wants, and stick to it.
