If you've ever launched sold, trying to sell a digital product or service online, then I bet that you've had one of these things happen. You're running Facebook ads, and they're not quite converting like you want, so you just scrap the entire ad and copy and put out a new version, or you do a webinar and you feel like it's a failure because only a few people turned up, or only one person bought, or no people bought. And so you've come to the conclusion webinars, they don't work, or maybe you have an opt in page for a launch, and you're seeing about 10 to 15% of people actually convert sign up, instead of what you should be seeing, which is 30% and you make a decision to just overhaul the whole page. It's frustrating, but it seems that nothing is working right in your business, and just be tempted to completely overhaul everything.

Hello, my friends and fellow entrepreneurs, welcome back to ease and impact, which is your weekly dose of real talk on thriving as a solopreneur. I'm Frankie J and today we're going to dive into something that's going to seem really small, but actually going to make quite a big difference when you're selling launching your digital products and services. But before we dive in, if you are loving these weekly doses of wisdom, hit that subscribe button and leave us a review. It helps other solopreneurs to find us make their way into this community. So today I want to share a story that, funnily enough, accurately demonstrates how small changes can make all the difference. So the other day, I found myself in a battle of epic proportions with a tree. So my daughter had got a hula hoop stuck up in the top of this high tree. It was about 10 meters off the ground, and I was determined to get it down for her. Now stick with me here, because this experience is really going to teach you a lot about business strategy and how it works. So first I had some options. I had to choose a strategy in how to get this hoop down.
2:59
Option one was to use a pole. Saw the longest pole that I sort of have in my arsenal, and a ladder to to reach it. But when I looked at the facts, the pole was about three and a bit meters. The ladder maybe about two and a bit meters. Me 1.6 meters. There was no possible way that I was going to be able to reach it.
3:22
Option two was to cut down the tree. Now, sounds a bit extreme, but stick with me. My thought was, if the tree was good for firewood, which I used to heat my house in winter, you know, kill two birds, one stone,
3:35
but it was no good. Looked it up, and it's not worth it to cut it down. So option three, probably the most fun of all the options, and you should always choose things that are fun, is to play cowboy and use a rope to lasso it and bring it down.
3:51
So just like in business, I had to weigh up sort of the options, pick the strategy that worked best for the situation, for me and for my audience, for the end goal, in this case, for my daughter's hoop.
4:03
So I created a weighted rope, and the goal was to loop it around the hula hoop and sort of pull it off the branch and bring it down. So my first attempt was an underhand sort of spin and throw.
4:16
Didn't work at all. Instead of abandoning the rope strategy entirely. I just made a small adjustment. So I switched to overhand, better, but not quite there. So I swung the rope with more speed, so I was getting more of the height that I needed, but not the distance. So I moved closer to the tree, better height, but and distance, but wrong angle. So I adjusted my stance slightly. Instead of being front onto the tree, I turned side on we're getting a bit of warmer here. So once I got it into the hula hoop, refining my strategy and getting it to the point that I wanted it, I realized that there wasn't enough weight on the rope, rope to bring, bring it down, back down so I could hold on to two bits and pull it off. I'm.
5:00
I did try to gently pull it, to try and like hopefully it would just hook it, jiggle it enough off, no. But now that I've got my strategy working in terms of the overhand throw, the angle and getting it into the hoop, I did it a few times, and had to tweak that strategy. And finally I decided, with a bit of the rope, with the weight hanging down to spin it, the rest of the rope around that hanging down bit. So I was on the ground and spinning sort of the top of the rope there to make a bit of a rope knot, mess of rope to try and tie that around the hula hoop and bring it down. And you know what? Boom, I got it. You see, each small tweak brought me that much closer to success. Now, my daughter counted about 15 attempts, and I think she must have got bored and stopped counting, because I'm pretty sure it was somewhere near 20 to 30 before I actually succeeded. But the key thing here is I didn't abandon the core strategy. I just made micro adjustments until it worked, because I knew overall the strategy was sound, and it was about adjusting it from me and my circumstances. This is exactly what we should be doing in our businesses. But often we don't. We abandon a strategy after one or two tries. So take Facebook ads, for example. When they're not performing, our instinct is to completely overhaul everything, new images, new copy, maybe new audience, maybe even new offer. But what if instead we just changed the color tone of the image, or tweaked our hook slightly, or swapped the image in the background of our text based ad or consider webinars. So I've seen so many entrepreneurs jump ship after one failed webinar launch, switching to challenges or video series. But often success is hiding in those small details, one small change to the webinar title or adjusting the time and day that you're presenting, or restructuring you know the opening five minutes can make all the difference. So before I give you some example, here's really what I want you to take away from today is that success often lives in that space between persistence and flexibility. It's not about throwing out an entire strategy. It's about making small, intentional, measured adjustments while keeping that core approach. Think about it, just like my cowboy rope throwing adventure, each failed attempt was actually giving me valuable clues, and your business does the same for you. Each Facebook ad that's not converting each webinar registration that falls short. None of this is telling you to give up and start over. They're giving you clues on what small adjustments that you can make. So here's what you're going to do next time you find something not working in your digital marketing strategy that you're implementing, instead of letting emotion rule you, firstly, just take a deep breath,
7:57
in and out, okay, and look at one area of the strategy. So maybe that's your ads or your webinar presentation, or your opt in page or your sales page. What one small change can you make? But I don't want to leave you totally in the dark, so here's some common things that you could look at, some common areas to make small tweaks on Facebook ads. Could be adjusting the brightness or the contrast of your image, or it could be adding or removing a single power word in your headlines. So maybe you're removing the word like unlock, which is overused because everyone does AI caption writing these days and adding maybe the word today, slightly adjusting your call to action from learn more to sign up, move maybe your social proof element further up or down in the copy. Maybe change just the background color behind your text overlay.
8:53
Test different opening hooks, but keep the rest of your your copy, your content the same. Or maybe adjusting the text to image ratio slightly with webinar presentations. Some adjustments you could look at would be changing your opening story while keeping the core content the same. Adjusting the timing of when you first mention your offer, adding one or more concrete examples to demonstrate your key points, adjusting how you frame your price reveal or adding a testimonial somewhere. Maybe your opt in page isn't converting like you want. So some small tweaks you can make there is just changing the color of the button they use to opt in. And a bit of an expert tip here is, often you want that color to be a completely different color to the other sort of brand colors you've used on your page, maybe you just adjust the headline font size, or change that headline wording. Change the order of your bullet points somewhere, or adding more space between elements, between sections, or testing a different image in your hero where your headline is. Sales Page tweaks that you can make.
10:00
Is adjusting the pricing table layout slightly, or changing one testimonial placement, maybe adding or removing a bonus, changing the Buy Now button color, as we talked about in opt in pages, changing the wording of the Buy Now button, maybe adjusting the space between sections, changing the headline or the subheading of a certain section. Of course, these suggestions and which you're going to implement will depend on what the data is telling you where the error is occurring. So just like when I was throwing the rope, the data was saying you're not spinning fast enough to get the height, or you're too far away from the tree, and I can then make those adjustments accordingly. As we wrap up today's episode, I'd love to hear your experiences with this. Have you ever been tempted to completely overhaul your strategy when maybe all that was needed was just a small tweak?
